The driver was stopped by police near Junction 13 while travelling northbound on the M6 near Stafford.
Officers performed a roadside breathalyser test, during which the driver blew a score of 200. The legal drink-drive limit in the UK for breathalysers is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - making this driver almost six times the legal limit.
In a post on X, Staffs RCT wrote: "The driver of this had an RTC, M6 NB @PoliceStafford and continued to drive.
"We located them at J13, they provided a roadside breath test of OVER 200 #arrested & at custody provided a reading of 137(limit 35). Vehicle #PG9."
The arrest was made as part of Operation Lightning - a dedicated operation focusing on road safety, helping to make Staffordshire's roads safer.
It aims to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries on the roads and to disrupt and deter criminals from using the road network.
