Drink-driver who delivers meals to the homeless gets 12-month ban
A woman who delivers meals to the homeless has been banned from driving for 12 months after admitting drink driving.
Surjuit Kaur, aged 49, of Burford, in Telford, told a judge that she did not know if she would be able to keep her job after she was found to be driving a Ford Focus on September 9, 2023, with more than one-and-a-half times the legal limit of alcohol in her breath.
Kaur was found to have 57 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, when the limit is 35.
Representing herself at Telford Magistrates Court on Tuesday, Kaur said: “At the time I was trying to get away from a situation at home. I have not done anything like this before. I was really upset and needed to get away.”
