West Bromwich woman fraudulently rented out her council house amid national shortage
A woman has pleaded guilty after renting out her council house in West Bromwich for more than £3,000 above its rental value.
Oluwatoyin Akolisa of Meyrick Road, West Bromwich, pleaded guilty to housing fraud at Dudley Magistrates Court on Wednesday (July 19).
The 39-year-old was accused of sub-letting a council-owned property between February 1, 2022 and February 28, 2023.
She was found to be in breach of an express term of the tenancy agreement, sub-letting the whole of the property without the council’s permission, and ceased to occupy the property as her only or principal home.
