Toddler murder trial halted after juror tests positive for Covid
The trial of a young mother and her boyfriend accused of murdering a three-year-old girl has been paused for a week after a juror tested positive for Covid.
The judge in the case of Nicola Priest, 22, and Callum Redfern, 21, who is from Gornal, has also had to self-isolate, forcing proceedings at Birmingham Crown Court to be halted. The trial is expected to resume on Monday.
The pair are accused of murdering Priest's daughter Kaylee-Jayde, who was was found dead at a flat near Birmingham last year. They both deny murder, manslaughter and causing or allowing the death of a child.
