Renee Cardin is accused of being involved in a scam where victims were contacted by someone purporting to be from the police and told the cash in their account is now counterfeit.

Three woman, aged between 68 and 85, were tricked into withdrawing money so it could be collected by a courier to be replaced.

In total £16,000 was conned from the victims between April 19 and 21.

Following enquiries, officers arrested and charged Cardin this week in connection with the scams.

The 22-year-old, of Cowles Croft, Birmingham, was charged with three counts of fraud and possession of criminal property.

She was also charged with possession of cannabis and was due to appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court today.
