Two attempted break-ins less than half a mile away in Stourbridge
Two homes less than half a mile away from each other in Stourbridge were targeted by burglars in the early hours.
The two reported incidents happened in nearby streets within a few hours on Tuesday.
Officers were first alerted to an attempted burglary at a home in Yarnborough Hill, Oldswinford, at about 4.20am.
It is believed the men tried to drill out the back door lock but ran off when confronted.
Police also received reports of a burglary in nearby Melrose Avenue, Oldswinford, which between 1am and 7.30am on the same day.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We are investigating after being called to an attempted burglary at a home in Yarnborough Hill, Stourbridge at about 4.20am on Tuesday, April 27.
"Three offenders tried to force open a rear door but were disturbed by the resident and fled.
"We were also called to reports of a burglary in Melrose Avenue, Pedmore, between 1am and 7.30am Tuesday.
"An untidy search was carried out but nothing was reported stolen.
"Officers are looking into whether the two offences are connected as our enquiries continue.
