Three charged after £10 million amphetamine lab bust
An alleged drug dealer from the West Midlands has been charged after a major amphetamine lab was found in the region.
Andrew Gurney, from Quinton, is one of three people to have been charged with offences regarding the supply and production of drugs after the lab was found near Redditch on Tuesday.
He is alleged to have been part of an organised crime group running the drugs operation using the encrypted phone network EncroChat.
The National Crime Agency believes they were producing around one tonne of amphetamine per month – worth £2 million at wholesale and up to £10m at street level – for distribution across the country.
Gurney, 50, of Middle Meadow Avenue, Quinton, John Keets, 40, of Middle Meadow, Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire and Keith Davis, 60, of Brayfield Lane, Chalfont St Giles, have all been charged.
All three were due to appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
A 28-year-old woman and 36-year-old man – arrested at a building on the same site as the lab on Ullenhall Lane – have been bailed.
