Staff threatened at knifepoint in Dudley supermarket robbery
Staff were threatened with a knife when a man robbed a Dudley supermarket today.
The robber entered the Co-op store in Overfield Road, at around 7am.
As he attemped to steal two packs of meat he was confronted by shop staff . He then threatened them with a knife and demanded cash from the tills.
The man made off with a quantity of cash, but no-one was injured during the incident.
Police are now appealing for information to trace the robber.
A spokesperson from West Midlands Police said: "We’re investigating an attempted robbery that happened at a Co-op store in Overfield Road, Dudley, this morning.
"A man entered the shop at around 7am and stole two packs of meat before he was confronted by shop staff. He threatened staff with a knife and demanded they open the till before making off with cash.

Central England Co-op has reaffirmed its campaign calling for better protection for staff following the robbery.
Craig Goldie, loss prevention manager, said: “Everyone at Central England Co-op has been shocked and appalled at this unacceptable incident in Dudley.
“Luckily, the colleagues were not injured and we are offering full support to them and the entire team and working closely with the local police force to bring the criminals responsible to justice.
“We strongly condemn any form of abuse or violence towards our teams who are just doing their job.
“These types of incidents reinforce our ongoing campaign calling for better protection for shopworkers and highlights our zero-tolerance policy on all types of crime aimed at our colleagues and customers.
“Once again, we are sending a clear message out to anyone who might consider targeting our colleagues and stores – it is not worth the risk and no crime will be tolerated.”
