Teenagers jailed for firing shots at rival gang members outside Birmingham chicken shop
Pair had 'no regard for lives of innocent bystanders' when targeting rival gang members.
Two teenagers have been jailed after shots were fired at rival gang members outside a chicken shop in Birmingham.
Dahmileon Allen, 19, and an 18-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons were sentenced each to nine years and eight months at Birmingham Crown Court after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
The pair fired rounds outside DFC Chicken on Rookery Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, towards a group of individuals believed to be rival gang members on April 29 last year.
The bullets narrowly missed a worker but struck a CCTV monitor.
As the victims fled, the defendants fired more shots.
The defendants were identified from the CCTV footage and were arrested.
Sean Kyne, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said following the sentencing: “The defendants fired shots at a group of people in the early hours of the evening with no regard for their lives or the lives of innocent bystanders.
"I hope today’s sentencing serves as a strong deterrent.
"Those who arm themselves with guns will be prosecuted and can expect sentences which reflect the gravity of this type of serious crime.”
