Warning as cat caught in wire snare for FIVE days in Cannock
A rescue centre has saved a cat after it was caught by a metal snare around its neck.
The ginger tom cat, who has since been named Teddy, was discovered stuck on a wall due to the wire snare around his neck near John Street in Chadsmoor, Cannock.
It is believed that he had been there for at least five days.
He was taken to Kats Cradle, based in Wolverhampton, with the snare, believed to have been purchased and deliberately set up, still around his neck.
Teddy had to go into the vets for surgery as the snare had cut through the muscles around his neck and the procedure cost around £1,500.
During his surgery, Teddy was also castrated and micro-chipped.
Despite his horrific injuries, the young cat is recovering well and steadily putting on weight, it is hoped he will make a full recovery.
The cat rehabilitation centre has also been made aware another pet cat has been shot in the same area which Teddy was found in.
Both incidents have been reported to the RSPCA and police.
