'Feeding the ducks': £200 Covid fine for driver whose car got stuck on trip to Telford from Walsall

A driver from Walsall who managed to get their car stuck in soggy ground in Telford while "feeding the ducks" will be fined for breaching Covid regulations.

The car is believed to have become stuck at Holmer Lake.

A picture of the vehicle trapped in the soft ground, was posted on Facebook by officers who had attended the scene

Police said that the driver, who had come from Walsall, had told them they had visited the town to "feed the ducks".

In a post on Facebook, Telford & Wrekin Cops said: "A trip from Walsall to Telford to "feed the ducks" is one thing, but to get your car stuck as well... this isn't a reasonable excuse.

"The person involved was reported by a member of the Brookside Safer Neighbourhood Team and will be receiving a £200 fixed penalty.

"Please stick to the rules, stay local and help slow the spread. We will get through this together.

"Stay home > Protect the NHS > Save lives!"
