Police are now hunting the burglars after the break-in happened in Stourbridge on Friday night.

All four men were dressed in black and threatened the couple, who are both in their 70s, demanding cash and jewellery after breaking into the house in Harringay Drive, Norton.

When one of the gang grabbed the woman, her husband attempted to fight off all four men until he was hit over the head with a kitchen stool and left with a deep cut in his head.

He then challenged the crooks again with a meat cleaver, but the attackers grabbed it from him and fled the house with the knife and the stool.

The men were last seen heading along nearby Norton Road towards Stourbridge town centre, still carrying the stool.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw the men or has found the kitchen items discarded after the burglary happened at 6.30pm.
