Knife held to woman's throat and man beaten in Black Country machete robbery
Police are hunting the robbers who came armed with sledgehammers, machetes and a knife.
A woman had a knife held against her throat and a man was repeatedly hit with a machete during a terrifying robbery at a Black Country home.
Three masked men smashed their way into a house in Harden Road, Bloxwich, at about 10.10pm on Saturday night and subjected the couple to more than 90 minutes of terror.
The men were armed with machetes, sledgehammers and a knife, and left the couple – both in their 60s – fearing for their safety.
The intruders eventually left with a substantial amount of cash and jewellery.
The woman had a knife held against her throat, while the man suffered arm and head injuries after being repeatedly hit with a weapon, West Midlands Police said.
The man remained in hospital for treatment and further assessment on Sunday evening.
Detective Inspector Mandy Thompson, from force CID, said: "This was an horrific experience for the victims in their own home.
"The man was repeatedly hit with a machete as he tried to get them to leave, while the woman had a knife put against her throat.
"We need to find whoever was responsible for this and I would urge anyone with information about this trio, however insignificant they feel it may be, to come forward."
