Former Conservative Party campaign manager charged over indecent images
A former Conservative Party campaign manager has been charged with offences relating to indecent images of children.
Mark Lerigo was a campaign manager for the Tories at the 2017 general election and for the Britain Stronger In Europe group during the EU referendum.
He has been working as a press officer for the Conservatives in the West Midlands in recent weeks. The party said he had now been suspended.
The National Crime Agency said Lerigo, 49, of William Bristow Road, Coventry, faces eight counts including the making, distribution and possession of images. He is set to appear at Coventry Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 25.
He has been charged with two counts of distributing indecent images of children, three counts of making indecent images of children, one count of possessing extreme pornography, one count of possessing prohibited images of children and one count of publishing an obscene article.
