Bilston pub's licence suspended after brawl and machete attack
A pub has had its licence suspended after a woman was attacked with a machete following a large-scale brawl inside the venue.
Police brought an emergency review against the Dog and Partridge in Bilston after the violent incident in the early hours of Sunday.
Its licence has now been suspended until a full review, due to be held on August 12.
A woman was injured after being attacked with a machete attack and armed police were sent to the area after a gun was fired.
A 36-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of wounding has been released under investigation.
Footage posted on social media showed a fight starting inside the pub during a "pool party". The trouble is then thought to have spilled outside.
Nobody is believed to have been injured in the gunfire but a shell casing was found by police nearby.
'Family fun day'
The pub had previously been denied a licence for a "family fun day" on Saturday.
Wolverhampton Council spokesman Tim Clark said: “We can confirm that our licensing department received an application on July 13 for a temporary event notice for a family fun day and barbecue at the Dog and Partridge.
"There were objections raised by Environmental Health due to ongoing noise complaints and the application was subsequently refused by the licensing sub committee.
"Despite the refusal, an event went ahead at the venue last weekend which has resulted in the expedited review on the grounds of serious crime and disorder."
MP Pat McFadden: “This was a terrifying violent crime carried out in the midst of a residential area.
"Crimes like this shake public confidence in the safety of the area.
"Not only do we need to see the prosecution of those responsible but I would also support any action from the local authority to suspend the licence of the pub where this took place.”
