Two women arrested under immigration act after warrants in Bearwood

Two women were arrested after police carried out a series of warrants in Bearwood.

The warrants were carried out at three properties in the Bearwood area on Friday night

Officers were joined by special colleagues and agencies including Sandwell Council to execute the warrants in the Bearwood area of Smethwick on Friday night.

They were acting on information received that women may be involved in trafficking at the three properties.

Two women were later arrested under the immigration act.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "Officers conducted a series of warrants at three properties in the Bearwood area of Smethwick on Friday night.

"Neighbourhood police officers joined forces with specialist colleagues and agencies including Sandwell Council to execute the warrants after receiving information that women may be involved in sexual exploitation and trafficking.

"Four potential victims were spoken to extensively but didn’t disclose any offences.

"Two women were arrested under the immigration act."
