Customers badly hurt when attacked by security staff at strip club, jury told

One victim needed surgery after suffering a brain injury and depressed skull fracture when hit on the head by a bar stool. Wolverhampton Crown Court was told how violence flared at Bing Gentlemen’s Club in West Bromwich at 2.30am. Mr Harinderpal Dhami, prosecuting, said the attackers were all security staff and the incidents were recorded on CCTV.

The defendants either claimed self defence or denied being involved, the court heard.

Gregory Beckford, aged 37, was accused of hurling the bar stool at Damanjit Singh. Mr Dhami maintained: “It struck Mr Singh on the head, knocking him unconscious as he fell down the stairs and ended up at the bottom in a pool of blood before being dragged out of the club by a friend and taken to hospital.”

The 27-year-old victim was in an induced coma for around 12 days, the court was told.

Another customer also needed hospital treatment after allegedly being repeatedly punched by 32-year-old Tony Onokah.

Serdar Mohammedi, aged 25, was seen returning a pick axe handle after Petruta Anghel, 37, supposedly picked it up from behind the bar, but claimed it was taken by a customer.

The weapon had Beckford’s DNA on the handle and the blood of a man hit on the back of the head who did not cooperate with the police investigation, the jury heard.

Onokah from Park Lane, Fallings Park, Anghel of Addington Way, Tividale, Mohammedi from Market Place, Great Bridge and Beckford of Bainbridge Road, Smethwick all deny violent disorder on March 5, 2017. The latter also denies wounding with intent and unlawful wounding while Onokah and Mohammedi deny unlawful wounding and possession of an offensive weapon. The case continues.
