It happened outside the Royal Oak pub, in Dudley Port, just after 2am on Saturday.

The man, thought to be in his 30s, is in a stable condition and police enquiries are on-going to trace his attacker.

A police cordon was placed around the scene and road diversions were in place while forensic investigations were carried out.

Reporter Liam Keen tweeted from the scene:

Blue tarpaulin could be seen on the ground outside the pub.

A neighbour who wished to stay anonymous said: "Every week there are fights and cars getting smashed around here, it's getting out of control.

"I'm not surprised this has happened. It's especially scary having children and living in the area, it's not safe."

Another resident, who also wished to stay anonymous, arrived home late from work to see the emergency services on the scene.

He said: "I came home from work and saw all the police cars.

"There was probably around five of them outside, I didn't see any people involved or the man who was stabbed, just the cordon and all the cars.

"Last week we had our driveway blocked in from parked cars, and they were all people in the pub, we were even woken up at 3am to music coming from the pub.

"This neighbourhood is getting worse, it needs sorting.

"If I could move from here I would, I've been here since 2001 and it's getting so much worse."
