Kirk Ford was jailed for more than eight years

A 'sadistic' bully who tortured a girlfriend while holding her captive for days when she admitted sleeping with another man was starting an eight-year two-month jail sentence today.

The victim had the marks of up to 300 lashes on her body when she finally managed to flee from the address in Meeting Street, Wednesbury, where she was kept between April 25 and May 1.

Kirk Ford flogged and flayed the 20-year-old across the back, face, neck and legs with a mobile phone charging cable.

She also suffered severe bruising to her upper arms, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.

One officer confirmed: “There were between 200 and 300 whip marks.”

The couple had been in an on-off relationship for four years and had recently got back together while he recovered from being stabbed in an unrelated incident in Dudley.

Beating

Trouble flared after the 25-year-old got hold of her mobile phone, saw a number he recognised and forced her to admit she had slept with the person it referred to.

He slapped and punched her before going into the kitchen to fill a container with cleaning fluids which he threw over the woman's eyes and face, it was said.

He initially refused to let her take a shower or change her clothes while repeatedly hitting her.

He then threatened the victim with a knife and made her hold up a sign that read ‘Dirty slag,’ the court was told.

Fortunately the chemical mix was not too corrosive and he finally allowed her to wash and put on fresh clothes.

She was also allowed to go out to get food as long as she wore a hoodie and remained with him.

Escape

The woman finally managed to escape through a bedroom window in her underwear and fled across the courtyard of a sheltered housing complex to the office where she begged staff not to let him in.

He kicked in the front door and smashed a glass panel but could not break down the barricaded office door and fled as police were called.

Father-of-one Ford, from Baron Street, West Bromwich, was arrested weeks later after being traced to an address in Rowley Regis.

He admitted false imprisonment, wounding and criminal damage and was given an extended sentence with five years longer monitoring than normal on release.

Judge Nicholas Webb told the defendant, who had a previous conviction for whipping another former partner with a belt: “You tortured and degraded her as you did with your latest partner.”

"Your violent, sadistic behaviour poses a significant risk of serious injury to women who are unfortunate enough to be in a relationship with you."
