Officer attacked in Bloxwich
An officer was left with a black eye and suspected broken collar bone after being attacked.
The West Midlands Police officer was assaulted in Mossley, Bloxwich, on Saturday after checking on an elderly vulnerable man.
A 23-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police constable but later released pending further investigation.
The attack left the officer needing to wear a sling and 'likely to be off the front line duties for several weeks'.
West Midlands Police's force response team tweeted to say the officer had suffered a 'black eye and possible fractured collar bone'.
Officers from neighbouring forces took to social media to wish their injured colleague back to good health.
A South Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: "Wishing our colleague across the boarder a quick and speedy recovery."
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "On Saturday 10 November, officers attended an address in Mossley, Bloxwich, to carry out a safe and well check on an elderly vulnerable man.
"On arrival, another man became aggressive and assaulted a police officer.
"The 23-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police constable and later released pending further investigation."
