The owner of a bag found with £20,000 cash inside has still not come forward.

The £20,000 was made up of £10 and £20 notes

The clear polythene bag was discovered in Wellington, Telford, stuffed full of neat bundles of £10 and £20 notes on October 16.

Two weeks later the owner of the money is yet to contact police - despite a widely-shared appeal to track them down.

Officers, who had initially asked the owner to 'pop in for a chat', now believe that the cash is linked to organised crime.

West Mercia Police's Local Policing Priority Team said on Twitter: "Well it's been over a week now and nobody has rightfully claimed this money belongs to them.

"We're beginning to think it may be linked to serious organised crime.

"Don't worry about coming in now, I'm sure we'll be in touch at some point."

Anyone with information about the money can contact Wellington police on 101 or use the Crimestoppers number 0800 555111.
