Man attacked by thugs in Dudley Market place

A man in his 60s was repeatedly punched in the face in a sickening attack in Dudley town centre.

The victim was sitting on a bench in Market Place when he was approached two men who asked him for money.

It is believed he was attacked after refusing to give them any cash.

Police have just released details of the 'nasty' incident, which happened at around 11pm on Tuesday, and have launched an investigation.

He suffered facial injuries after being punched several times.

Detective Inspector Ade George from West Midlands Police CID, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything on Tuesday evening at around 11pm to get in touch. This was a nasty attack on a man who as a result sustained serious facial injuries including a suspected fractured eye socket.

“We have carried out a trawl of CCTV to identify the suspects and have officers on patrol in and around the area.

“I would urge anyone with any information to contact my team, quoting crime reference number 20DY/220225E/18."
