WATCH: Appeal after CCTV captures knife attack on off-duty cop
Shocking CCTV captures the moment an off-duty police officer had to run for his life while being chased by a knife-wielding man.
Footage shows the 25-year-old West Mercia Police officer running away from the masked attacker outside shops on Moreton Road in Great Barr.
Police released the footage in a bid to trace the attacker who fled the scene in a blue Ford Fiesta.

The officer can be seen walking towards a Mini before being approached by the masked thug.
The attacker, who was wearing a black jacket with a shiny hood, was demanding the keys to the victim's car.
As the officer struggles to get away he is pounced on by the attacker who is brandishing the weapon.
The officer was taken to hospital and treated for his injuries, which were not serious.
He was discharged later that day and is now recovering at home.
West Midlands Police has launched an appeal following the incident, which took place around 1.30pm on September 5.
Detective Inspector Chris Fox, from force CID, said: "I am appealing for anyone with information on what happened to come forward and speak to us.
"The offender made off from the scene in a dark blue Ford Fiesta. He was wearing dark clothing but, as can be seen in the video, the hood appears to be of a shiny material. Do you recognise it?
"If you know anything, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please get in touch as it could be vital to our investigation."
