Furious host Jessica Green pulled the woman's hair, triggering a scuffle between the pair, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

Then her partner Jamie Nicholls ejected the culprit from the address and she called a relation to pick her up.

As her mother arrived 20 minutes later she heard Green shouting at her daughter 'I am going to kill you' before throwing her to the ground and punching her with both hands, said Mr Lukas Hamilton Eddy, prosecuting.

When the mother tried to halt the beating she was felled by a punch from Nicholls and momentarily lost consciousness after hitting her head on the ground.

Then he turned on the prone daughter and hit her twice on the side of the head, continued the prosecutor.

Mr David Swinnerton, defending Nicholls, said: "This was an incident involving two women who had drunk too much and he, extremely foolishly, got involved.

"This was done on the spur of the moment and after a lot of drink."

Nicholls, now aged 22, from Brickhouse Lane, West Bromwich and of previous good character, admitted two assaults and was given a 38-week jail tern suspended for a year with 150 hours unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £300 costs and a further £300 compensation.

Green, also 22, from Alexandra Way, Tividale, and similarly of previous good character, pleaded guilty to assault and received a 12-month community order.

The incident happened on May 21 2017 and the two defendants are no longer in a relationship.
