Police warning over grass fires amid heatwave forecast
It comes as West Midlands firefighters continue to help tackle the Saddleworth Moor blaze.
Yobs are causing chaos by starting fires on grassland around the Black Country as the heatwave continues.
Police have warned they will be targeting those starting fires in the open as forecasters said the summer heatwave is set to last throughout July.
Temperatures are to hit 30C (86F) in places this week and police have warned those starting fires on grassland are putting lives at risk.
Fire crews were called out to a fire started on Kinver Edge last Thursday
Another fire was started near a cycle path, off Station Road, Rushall, around 6.25pm on Sunday.
Police tweeted: "Be warned, if we find out who sets these fires they will most certainly be dealt with by police."
And this morning a fire was started in Hickman Park, Bilston.
Ward councillor Beverley Momenabadi said: "I hope the culprits of this are found and prosecuted as their selfish behaviour has endangered innocent residents."
It came as West Midlands Fire crews continued to help colleagues in Manchester with a major grassland blaze.
Three Black Country crews were called to Saddleworth Moor to relieve teams who have been tackling the fire for around a fortnight.
They joined teams again on Monday to continue the operation.
Meanwhile firefighters have continued to battle a large-scale blaze on the Staffordshire Moorlands since the weekend.
Fire engines from across Staffordshire, along with a water carrier from Rugeley, have been tackling the blaze - with 45 firefighters in attendance at one point on Sunday.
