Teenage stab victim named as police make second arrest
Police have named the victim of a fatal stabbing as Ozell Pemberton as they make their second arrest.
Ozell, 16, was stabbed in the chest in Sutton Coldfield on Thursday last week and died, a post mortem has revealed.
Officers from West Midlands Police have now arrested a second man on suspicion of murder – and the 21-year-old from Erdington is being held in custody and questioned by police.
Another teenager arrested on Friday morning remains in custody as officers were granted extra time for questioning.
But police chiefs say that several people were seen fleeing the scene after the incident and believe another two people were directly involved – and they have directly appealed for them to hand themselves in.
Police confirmed that they are examining 'hours' of CCTV footage following the incident and said that arrests made were a 'significant step forward' in their investigations.
But they are still appealing for witnesses to come forward and have urged anyone with photos or video footage of the incident to get in touch.
West Midlands Police Detective Chief Inspector Edward Foster, from the force's homicide team, said: "Our investigation is progressing at speed.
"We have seized and are examining many hours of CCTV footage and the scene of the stabbing has been forensically examined.
"Clearly the arrests are a significant step forward in our investigation but we now believe another two people were involved.
"I would ask them to do the right thing, and hand themselves in to police – It is only a matter of time before we come knocking at your door.
"We know several people were seen fleeing the area after the disorder and are still appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch.
"If anyone has photos or mobile phone footage of the incident they may have captured vital evidence so I’d urge them to contact us."
Anyone with information is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
