West Midlands Police have named Abdul Rahman Abubaker, 24, who died in hospital from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The young man was shot on Stratford Place in Highgate, Birmingham, at around 11pm on May 15.

West Midlands Police confirmed they have gathered 'hours of CCTV' footage in their investigation but are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

West Midlands Police Detective Chief Inspector Edward Foster said: "We understand the victim was on or near Stratford Place when he was shot.

"I would appeal to anyone who was at the location and may have heard or seen anything to get in touch.

"At this stage no arrests have been made but we’ve gathered hours of CCTV and forensic material – evidence which detectives are now piecing together.

"If anyone has photos or mobile phone footage of the incident they may have captured vital evidence so I’d urge them to contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
