Man seriously injured in Wednesbury machete attack

A man suffered serious injuries after being attacked with a machete on a busy road.

The shocking attack happened following a crash involving two vehicles on Friar Park Road, Wednesbury.

The victim suffered severe head wounds and was taken to hospital with 'potentially life-threatening injuries', police said.

Violence flared after a crash between a small white hatchback van and a white transit van at around 10.30pm on Saturday.

Two men then got out of the small van and attacked two men who were in the other van.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said an investigation has been launched.

"At around 10.25pm, a small white hatchback van and a white transit van collided and ended up in gardens in front of some homes.

"Two men then got out of the small van and assaulted the two men who had been travelling in the transit van.

"The two men from the small white van then got back into their vehicle and drove off.

"One of the victims sustained severe head wounds from a machete , and was taken to hospital for treatment to potentially life-threatening injuries.

"The other man received severe bruising to his arms.

"No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
