CCTV stills issued in bid to catch gun-wielding robber who targeted Walsall newsagent

CCTV stills have been released in a bid to catch a robber who targeted a newsagents armed with a gun and an unknown spray.

A man entered News and Booze in Ablewell Street, Walsall, around 6pm yesterday to buy cigarettes – but sprayed the cashier in the face with the substance and punched him.

The offender, believed to be around 30 years old, then pulled a handgun on the cashier and customers before leaving the shop with no one seriously injured.

West Midlands Police have now released the CCTV images as part of their investigation, with the man wearing a light grey hoody with a black zip, black jeans and dark-coloured trainers at the time.

The offender is described as being 5ft 10ins, of heavy build with facial stubble and wears black hair tied in two bunches on either side of his head.

Officers say the incident is not being treated as an acid attack.
