Card 'skimming' device removed from bank's ATM in Walsall
A bank card skimming device was found on a cash machine at a bank in Aldridge after a customer smelled glue .
A 'skimming' device was removed from the ATM at Natwest on Anchor Road in by a vigilant resident who could smell glue.
The machines work by capturing data from the magnetic strip.
It was handed in to the branch on Friday.
A spokeswoman from West Midlands Police said: "Police are investigating after a skimming device was found inside an ATM on Anchor Road, Walsall.
"The device was handed into the bank on 5 January, and officers have launched an investigation.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact West Midlands Police on 101."
North Aldridge Neighbourhood Watch moved to warn people about the scam and posted pictures of the device.
A facebook post from the group said: "Using a cash machine today in Aldridge or other places - Be Warned!
"A resident reports the following:
"WATCH!!! when your using cash machines took this one off oposite weatherspoons in Aldridge this morning looks like made to catch your card before comes back out luckily I noticed looked a bit dodgy!!! Could still smell the glue so hadn't been put on long."
