Baxter Church minister Andrew Mann-Ray has since said the response from the public had been 'overwhelming' with people coming from as far as Redditch to help.

The 38-year-old also said that Wyre Forest District Council had donated a laptop following the break in where thieves made away with a laptop, £90 and left hundreds of pounds in damages.

Mr Mann-Ray, who has been minister at the church in Bull Ring, Kidderminster for four years, said: "There has been an overwhelming response from the community.

"Someone has actually paid for the locks to be fixed and we have got a carpenter here now.

"We are so pleased, the response has been just amazing.

"People have been donating food, the council has donated a laptop.

"We have had a response from someone has drove all the way from Redditch."

The support trails the incident on Tuesday evening which bled into the early hours of Wednesday morning where thieves broke into the church twice and stole from Kidderminster Food Bank.

It is thought the thieves first arrived at the church in Bull Ring after 10.10pm but they later returned at around 1am.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said the offenders had 'made an untidy search' before making off.

They added that inquires are still on-going and no further update has been given.

Police said anyone with information can contact them on 101, quoting 176s of 3 January 2018.
