Pensioners assaulted in their own home as masked robbers armed with knives steal jewellery
Heartless robbers armed themselves with a blade before preying on two pensioners in their home.
The masked men barged into the Lower Gornal house, injuring their two victims and making off with jewellery during the evening attack.
Hundreds of people have since spoken of their outrage and shock after hearing the couple were targeted on Wednesday.
It comes after footage from a neighbour's house caught the perpetrators dashing away from the scene following the robbery.
West Midlands Police confirmed officers were alerted to the incident at the Cinder Road house just after 7.30pm.
The robbers assaulted the man and woman, both in their early 70s, before snatching the jewellery from their home.
Force spokesman Craig Hughes said: "The victims were left shaken and taken to hospital with minor injuries.
"The men - who were armed with a knife - fled the scene on foot and officers are now reviewing CCTV in the area.
"House to house enquiries are being carried out and patrols have been stepped up to reassure the community."
More than 4,200 people have now shared CCTV footage on social media with hopes of bringing the criminals to justice.
John Mcgregor posted footage online and urged the community to help track down the men, adding: "We will all pull together and find who did this."
Susan Windmill - family member of the victims, named locally as Pat and Jerry Lloyd - pleaded with Facebook users to share the video.
She revealed how medics feared her sister Pat had broken her ribs and said the masked men had attacked her with a knife.
Ms Windmill claimed brother-in-law Jerry was also thrown on to the floor during the burglary, adding: "Please if you see or hear anything phone the police.
"My sister is at hospital and my brother in law [is] very shaken. "[They] kicked my sister and cut her with a knife on her hands."
