A 45-year-old man, from Handsworth, had to shout at passers-by for help after he got stuck in a takeaway's extractor.

Police were called around 8.20am today to DFC Chicken on Rookery Road, Handsworth, Birmingham, after a member of the public spotted a pair of legs sticking out of the takeaway.

Response officer Pc Matthew Willocks was sent to the scene and snapped the picture of the hapless suspect, who was finally released from the hole just before 9am.

Pc Willocks said: “The extractor unit had been removed and the suspect had climbed into the extractor outlet at around 2am. He was completely stuck and couldn’t move at all.

“The fire brigade had to come in and use the jaws of life to pull back all the extractor casing to release him.”

The man was taken to hospital for a check-up and has been arrested on suspicion of burglary.
