Warning after bogus officials pounce

Police have issued a warning after cash was taken from a home in Cannock by two men posing as officials from the Water Board.

The incident took place at a home on Garrick Road, Cannock.

After being granted entry into the house, one of the men asked the resident to turn their taps on in the kitchen.

Only one of the pair followed them into the kitchen before they both left, after which the resident discovered a quantity of cash had been taken.

Paula James, community engagement officer with Staffordshire Police, said: "We are urging residents to be on their guard following a bogus official incident in Garrick Road.

"The two men were described as white and were wearing white shirts.

"We take this type of crime very seriously and are working hard to catch these criminals."

It happened on Friday at around 1.30pm
