Thieves escape after attempted robbery at Wolverhampton pawnbrokers
Thieves tried to force their way into a pawnbrokers during an early morning raid.
Shattered glass spilled on to the pavement after the criminals smashed a window at Wolverhampton's H & T Pawnbrokers.
But the offenders fled empty-handed in a get-away car after officers rushed to the Cleveland Street store.
West Midlands Police is now on the hunt for the perpetrators of the attempted robbery, which took place at 6.30am on Friday.
Force spokesman Mike Woods said: "The offenders have tried to smash a window, but officers were quickly on the scene and the vehicle made off.
"The car, a blue Ford Mondeo, has been recovered elsewhere in the city. No one was injured and nothing was taken."
Witnesses should contact police on 101, quoting log 644.
