Mass brawl in Birmingham city centre leaves man hospitalised

A 20-year-old has been hospitalised after a 15-man brawl in Birmingham city centre.

The disorder broke out around 6am this morning outside the Glamorous Showbar, close to the Arcadian, on Hurst Street.

The street was cordoned off but reopened shortly before 10am.

West Midlands Police said: "Police are investigating after a man was assaulted following a disorder involving up to 15 men in Hurst Street, Birmingham City Centre, at around 6am this morning.

"A 20 year-old man was taken to hospital with head and leg injuries which are not serious.

"Officers are now examining CCTV in the area and a section of Hurst Street has been cordoned off while investigations are carried out.

"Anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting log number 326 of 29/9; or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Jamie Arrowsmith, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, added: "We were called to reports that a man, in his 20’s, had received injuries following an assault outside the Glamorous Showbar, close to the Arcadian.

"The man had received a head injury and an injury to his leg.

"He was taken by ambulance to hospital.

"Police are at the scene and are investigating.”
