WATCH: Dramatic moment police aim Tasers at man with knife in Birmingham city centre

This is the dramatic moment police drew their Tasers when a suspected knifeman was spotted in Birmingham city centre.

Police were called to New Street, near the HSBC bank, amid concerns for the welfare of a man who was said to have been spotted carrying a blade.

Video shared on social media showed officers with their Tasers aimed at the man as he lay motionless on the floor.

One officer orders the suspect to drop the weapon, before he has forcibly removed from his hand.

More officers then arrive in a car.

British Transport Police said: "A man has been arrested outside HSBC bank near Birmingham New Street station at 1.15pm today.

“Officers were initially responding to a call regarding a concern for welfare outside the station when a man was seen with a knife.

"He was subsequently arrested on possession of bladed article and has been taken to hospital.

"Tasers were drawn but were not used on the man. The incident is believed to be drug-related.”
