Teenager stabbed in head after being asked to pay man's bus fare
A teenage bus passenger was repeatedly stabbed in the head and body after his attacker asked him to pay his bus fare for him.
The victim, aged 17, was on the 28 bus in Great Barr when it stopped on Dyas Road.
The suspect, whose CCTV image was released by police this afternoon, tried to board the bus but the driver refused him entry when it emerged he had no money.
The suspect refused to leave and asked the teenager to pay his fare.
The driver said he would not move until the suspect got off the bus.
West Midlands Police said: "Fearing an altercation, the teenager got off the bus and walked back to the nearest bus stop to catch the next available bus.
"At this point, the suspect chased him to the junction of Booths Lane and stabbed him several times to the head and body; he continues to recover from his injuries at home."
It happened at around 1.30pm last Friday.
Det Insp Yousef from Force CID added: “This was a serious and unprovoked attack for which the offender needs to be apprehended and dealt with. I would urge anyone with information to contact us and tell us what they know."
