The 16-year-old had harboured a developing wish to carry out 'depraved' fantasies on the pair, aged 10 and 11, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

The youth struck outside the B&M store in Brownhills while they were momentarily separated from their family and ordered the pair to come with him, revealed Mr Gary Cook, prosecuting.

They were taken through the town towards Silver Street where both girls managed to run away on the approach to a canal bridge leading to the common on January 28.

The defendant, now 17, was followed by some of their relatives and drew a Stanley knife in a failed bid to stop their brother seizing and detaining him until police arrived.

Mr Richard Davenport, defending, conceded: "He is an extremely dangerous individual who admits to still having dangerous thoughts about what to do with young girls.

"He was sexually abused himself when aged eight or nine and people in that situation are susceptible to abusing young children themselves. It is like Vampirism.

"After kidnapping the two girls he told police of the depth and strength of his depraved fantasies and what he intended to do to the girls."

The youth, who cannot be identified, admitted two cases of kidnap with intent to commit a sexual offence and possession of a knife.

He was ordered to be held in custody for five years and be monitored on licence for five years longer than normal after the Parole Board rule it is safe to release him.

Judge Peter Barrie told the defendant: "It was not by chance but design that the girls encountered you while out shopping and you managed to get them away from their family.

"Your intention was to get them over the bridge to an area of woods where you would have some privacy. You wanted to sexually assault both."
