Masked men armed with baseball bats raid Walsall travel agents

Masked men armed with baseball bats and crowbars stole cash during a raid at a Walsall travel agents. The thieves are believed to have escaped in a silver Lexus car after demanding cash from staff at the Thomson Holiday Superstore on Wolverhampton Street.

Nobody was injured and police are now trawling CCTV footage in a bid to solve the crime, which happened at around 7pm on Thursday.

The branch was closed on Friday as a result.

West Midlands Police spokesman Craig Hughes said: "We were called to reports of an armed robbery at Thomson, Wolverhampton Street, Walsall, at around 7pm last night.

"A group of masked men armed with baseball bats and crowbars have entered the store and demanded money from staff.

"They made off with a quantity of cash and are believed to have fled in a silver Lexus car.

"No-one was injured and officers are now examining CCTV in the area.

"Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
