Darlaston motorcyclist charged over widower’s death six years after fatal collision
A motorcyclist from Darlaston has been charged with causing the death of a father-of-five by careless driving more than six years after the fatal collision.
Luke Guttridge, aged 26, appeared at Walsall Magistrates Court yesterday where he denied the charge.
Harbans Lal Gangar was struck by a motorbike as he crossed Wolverhampton Street, Darlaston, on his way home from The Old Engine pub on December 27, 2010.
Guttridge, of Curtin Drive, Moxley, spoke only to confirm his identity and to enter his plea of not guilty.
He was granted unconditional bail and will next appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on July 14.
An inquest in July 2011 heard Mr Gangar's leg was severed in the collision which took place at around 9pm.
The 61-year-old widower, of Heathfield Lane, Darlaston, had worked for copper tube manufacturers Mueller Europe Ltd in Bilston for more than 30 years.
