Man's ear bitten off after violence flares outside Rugeley petrol station

Police are appealing for information after a man had his ear bitten off.

The incident, involving a 22-year-old, happened on the forecourt of the Esso Service Station on Western Springs Road, Rugeley.

The victim, from Rugeley, suffered serious injuries to his ear and was taken to hospital in Nottingham.

It happened just before 2.35am on May 27.

Three men were seen walking past the leisure centre, one with blood on his t-shirt. One was wearing a tracksuit. They were then seen running onto Hardy Avenue.

A 21-year-old man, from Bloxwich, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been released under investigation.

Anyone who was on the service station forecourt at the time of the assault or has information are asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident 103 of 27 May.
