Wolverhampton attack: Man seriously injured after assault near takeaway

A man has been left seriously injured after he was attacked near a takeaway in Wolverhampton city centre.

The victim, a 24-year-old man, was taken to hospital after the assault in the early hours today.

Police have cordoned off a section of Broad Street near the Dixy Chicken takeaway.

A police van was parked outside the takeaway and the scene was taped off near two bus stops.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police are investigating after a 24-year-old man was admitted to hospital with a serious head injury.

"It is believed the young man was assaulted on Broad Street, Wolverhampton in the early hours of the morning.

A police tent was later erected on the pavement in Broad Street

"Officers have already spoken to a number of witnesses and are currently trawling CCTV in the local area and conducting house to house visits."
