A total of 56 cannabis plants, along with growing equipment, were discovered at a property in Smethwick this week.

Police discovered 56 plants and growing equipment

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "The owner of the property noticed a lot of people coming and going from it.

"While we were there, three people turned up. No-one has been charged."

The raid comes a month after it was revealed how police had seized £8million worth of cannabis in raids since the start of the year.

More than 8,500 plants were confiscated at properties throughout the West Midlands including many across the Black Country.

One of the biggest this year so far was discovered by firefighters attending a blaze at a property on Gospel Oak Road in Tipton, next to Ocker Hill Primary School.

It had been sparked by equipment used where approximately 300 plants, worth £300,000, were growing.
