Thousands of pounds of cash and cigarettes stolen in supermarket raid

Baseball bat raiders locked staff in a toilet before stealing around £3,000 in cash and £5,000 worth of cigarettes from a Co-op Supermarket in South Staffordshire today.

The burglary happened at 5:45am when two men entered the Co-operative Food store on the High Street in Pattingham armed with a baseball bat.

The two men threatened the staff and locked them in a toilet whilst they took cash and tobacco.

Witnesses described the first male as being slim, approximately 6ft tall and wearing dark clothing.

The second was of medium build, 6ft tall and also wearing dark clothing, including a hooded top. Both spoke with a Wolverhampton accent.
