Glyn Evans was at a property in Walsall Road, Willenhall, on December 23 after a stab wound to the kidney severed an artery.

Stella Downing, 37, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday.

Martin Stokes, aged 49, of St Giles Road, Willenhall, admitted attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Both defendants were remanded in custody until June 29 when they are expected to be sentenced after details of the case have been outlined to the court.

Mr Evans was believed to have been squatting at the Walsall Road property when he was found dead.

He had been described through a statement released by the police as a 'family man' and 'much-loved brother'.

Willenhall South councillor Carl Creaney said after the murder: "It's a tragedy. I've known him for well over 20 odd years. What's happened to him shouldn't have happened to him. My heart goes out to his ex-wife and his children."

Friend Karl Bond added: "Glynn was a great bloke. He had his troubles like we all do, but his heart was in the right place.

"He would always help others where he could and he will be dearly missed by many. He was never short of friends to help him out in his times of need."
