Windows smashed in Smethwick bar brawl

A brawl broke out in a pub in Smethwick with windows smashed and bar stools and pool cues allegedly used as weapons, police revealed today.

A fight erupted at The Shireland in Shireland Road, Smethwick, just after 11pm last night.

Windows were smashed and pool cues were believed to have been used as weapons, police said.

Two people were taken to A&E after the violence, though the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

Deb Edmonds, spokeswoman for West Midlands Police, said four people had been arrested

She added: "Police were called to The Shireland public house just after 11pm last night (Jan 7) after a fight had broken out and a number of tables and glasses were smashed.

"Four people were arrested, three men, aged 33, 29 and 25, and a 31-year-old woman, for offences of violent disorder, affray and criminal damage."

The pub was not available for comment.
