The boys, who are 14 and 15-years-old, were at Victoria Park in Smethwick when they were approached by another group of ten youths.

An argument started between the groups and the pair were attacked with a knife.

One suffered a stab wound to his stomach and the other had a deep cut across his hand. Both were taken to hospital.

The incident took place at around 4.30pm on Sunday 3 November.

Detective Constable Roland Stuttard, from West Midlands Police, said: "At this stage neither of the victims of this attack are co-operating with us but we are determined to find out exactly what happened and bring those responsible to justice.

"We take all reports of knife crime seriously and in this case the two boys were extremely fortunate not to suffer more serious injuries.

"This happened in the afternoon when there would have been other people in the park ? if anyone saw anything I would urge them to contact us as soon as they can.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
