Residents flee in arson at Smethwick bin store
More than a dozen people were evacuated from a row of houses after an arsonist targeted a bin store in Smethwick today.

The utilities room and bin store below a row of maisonettes in Firs Lane was set alight at 4.40am, and residents were alerted to the blaze by their smoke alarms.
Smoke had started to seep up into the houses above, and around 15 residents were evacuated.
Fire crews from Smethwick entered the bin store using breathing apparatus and put out the blaze.
