Man questioned after Smethwick gun alert
An 18-year-old was being questioned by police today after being arrested on suspicion of firearm offences in Smethwick.

He was arrested in Belmont Road after reports were received of a man carrying what is believed to have been a firearm just before 10pm.
Belmont Road and Merrivale Road were closed while officers dealt with the incident, and were reopened shortly after 5am this morning.
No shots were discharged and no injuries were reported during the incident.
The man today remained in custody where he was being questioned by police.
